With the purpose of enhancing the society’s awareness regarding energy culture and efficiency, the second week of January is celebrated as the Energy Efficiency Week since 1981. Radical transformations and improvements started to be observed in the field of energy efficiency in Turkey  in accordance with the Energy Efficiency Law that came into force in 2007.

 

Energy Efficiency Week, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources’ General Directorate of Electrical Power Resources Survey and Development Administration and cooperated by Ministry of National Education, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and Chamber of Electrical Engineers, is celebrated each year in the second week of January and activities with widespread participation are organized countrywide.

 

In order to improve the energy culture and efficiency awareness within the society, cooperation is developed with the collaboration of ministries, governorships, metropolitan municipalities, lighting, white appliances, electric motors and insulation sectors, banks, tourism facilities and shopping malls, the respective organizations, institutions and corporations.

 

Within the framework of Energy Efficiency Week activities, it is agreed to organize National Energy Efficiency Forum annually with participations at international level and 2nd National Energy Efficiency Forum and Fair was held in 2011. The 3rd National Energy Efficiency Forum and Fair within the context of 31st Energy Efficiency Week will be held on January 12-13, 2012 at WOW Convention Center in Istanbul. Within the scope of the week, activities such as conferences, panels, forums, fairs and award ceremonies will take place.
